Use pad diameter, not only backing-plate size
Read the pad’s own size and measure its widest face. A machine described by backing-plate size does not establish the pad’s outside dimensions. Check the holder’s usable internal width, edges and withdrawal opening against the actual foam, microfiber or wool pad. Overall rack width cannot substitute for that fit check.
Full size versus Mini: capacity depends on thickness
Lay out the clean pads you want in one holder and measure their stack without compressing them. Ask for usable stack height and withdrawal clearance; compare that with the full and Mini formats. A nominal count is not reliable across thin foam pads and thicker wool pads. Keep compound and finishing pads identifiable.
Decide between open access and covered storage
An open wall holder can make a working selection easy to reach. If the wall receives dust or spray, consider a covered location for reserve pads. Follow the pad manufacturer’s cleaning and drying instructions before storage; do not use a narrow storage stack as a substitute for drying.
What to request from a lower-cost supplier
Request internal dimensions, edge treatment, fixing pattern and an image of the exact model. Ask how a pad is removed without pulling neighboring pads free.
